August is firmware month.

iRiver H10 (5GB/6GB) gets A-B repeat, alphabetical ordering for your texts & photos, deletion of recordings on-the-fly & scroll speed acceleration (think iPod here) among other additions and improvements. Note that this firmware upgrade is only for the MTP devices, those that sync with Windows Media Player. (Those of you who drag & drop are out of the deal.)

Creative releases firmware upgrades for its TX FM, V200 & N200 MuVo flash players.

TX FM (the one with radio) goes to v 1.17.04 and now supports up to three subfolders in the root directory, up to 500 tracks and 60 folders containing tracks. Note that you must install Creative MuVo driver version 1.03.00.250 before installing this firmware upgrade.

V200 goes to v1.03.01 which includes several fixes:

• reduces the occurence of random popping sounds when your player is turned on or off


• improves the “Skip Folder” function in “Repeat Folder” mode


• improves the “Cue and Review” function during MP3 playback


• enables voice recording folder detection when more than 50 folders are created


• reduces rare instances where the player stops responding

N200 goes to v1.15.01 which includes the same additions as the TX FM upgrade (see above), and the following fixes:

• reduces rare instances where the player stops responding


• enables proper functionality of the “Skip Folder” feature
