Briefly: Baidu sued, Steve Jobs’ message to studios, Sony’s marketing, Bluetooth chips for iPod, Nano Wiki, ROKR E1 wishlist

  • Baidu sued over music downloads (the highly popular chinese search engine that allows you to search for MP3 files hosted on websites and FTP servers, making the labels sad; by the way, a few test searches I’ve run today show that the feature still works – woot!) [via]

  • Steve Jobs to Studios: I Got the Power! (some thoughtful and funny—yes, they can be combined—commentary on Steve Jobs’ presentation last week; “Again, the subtext of Jobs’ pitch today was to tell his suppliers that today was Victory-Digital day for iTunes + iPod as the only end-to-end digital content distribution platform that customers are actually using.”) [via]

  • Walkman’s an also-ran in MP3 foot-race (it’s the usual “Apple does a great job regarding the iPod contrasted to Sony’s measly Walkman efforts”, but I found the following quote interesting: “In a clear indication that marketing is one of Sony’s biggest problems, Howard Stringer on Tuesday named Andy House to a newly invented job: chief marketing officer.”;) [via]

  • CSR seeks iPod application to give headphones a wireless future (they’ve approached Apple to have their microchips installed into iPods, allowing the players to support wireless headphones; I’m suprised this has been given such attention in other sites considering (a) it’s a mere suggestion about something that’s expected to come sooner or later, if it was to be applied tomorrow I’d understand, (b) it’s pure CSR hype that serves nothing else other than to increase their stock price; oh, and Engadget is right: “if there’s one surefire way for a supplier to totally kill a relationship with Apple, it’s to go public about it before the deal’s even closed [...]”) [via]

  • nanoSpot – iPod nano Wiki (serves as a place to sum up all the nano-related reviews/hacks/etc. that surface online) [via]

  • How would you change the Motorola ROKR E1?
