New iPod battery replacement program for UK/Ireland
If your iPod’s out of warranty and your battery is slowly giving up the ghost, you can get it to an Apple Store (or Apple Authorised Service Provider) and have it replaced for £49 inc VAT (€69 inc VAT, if you’re in Ireland). This is in contrast to the previous price of £69.
If your iPod is personalised with custom engraving, you’re better off requesting a replacement battery online for a fee of £76.29 (VAT, shipping included) or €111.10 in Ireland. Note that if your iPod was custom laser engraved by a company other than Apple, they’ll obviously not personalise your replacement iPod.
Waiting time (from the date they receive it, till the date you get it back) for those who go with the online option is one week for the non-personalised iPods, and two-to-three weeks for the personalised ones.
Apple’s website notes that your songs and other data won’t be transferred to your replacement iPod (back them up!) and also:
Replacement iPods may be new, used or refurbished. Service may not be available if your iPod has been damaged due to accident or abuse.
