Briefly: iAudio X5’s DRM10 support, WinMX shuts down, iRiver T20, SonyEricsson W800i, iPod nano, Apple’s stand on iPod & cellphone convergence
- Update on WMA10 DRM support for iAudio X5 (Napster’s program has trouble uploading more than 100 tracks in a row to the device, that’s why the certification hasn’t come yet; the Napster guys are trying a new algorithm that apparently fixes things, so DRM10 support should be here soon)
- WinMX Shuts Down After RIAA Threat (RIAA sent a letter to seven undisclosed P2P networks on September 15; WinMX and eDonkey seem to be gone…)
- The Register reviews the iRiver T20 (rating: 70/100; they seem to be put off by the controls—we’ve heard that before—and the player’s looks; the 512MB version goes for €99, the 1GB for €132)
- SonyEricsson W800i Walkman Phone Review (they gave it a 9/10; beats the ROKR, but is too pricey at $500 and no US carriers offer it for the time being; also read: Macworld UK’s comparison of the two phones)
- Tiny iPod Nano bursts with impressive features (I suppose I don’t need to say the like it, do I?)
- iPod chief not keen on iPod and cell phone convergence (“Apple senior vice president and executive team member Jon Rubinstein does not believe in digital device convergence theories, which suggests that the iPod, cell phone, and digital camera are on a collision course with each other and a single unified device.”)
