Samsung says: “Stop complaining!”

From: Hwang Chang-kyu, CEO of Samsung's semiconductor division RE: No use complaining
To: All you Korean manufacturers

It’s been a couple of weeks I’m reading your complaints in the press, that we’re helping Apple crush you by giving them our flash memory chips for their iPod nano for such low prices.
Look, business is business, there’s no need to get emotional. Apple is a big player and buying 100 units can’t be the same as buying one; we had to give those guys a discount.
After all, we provide Apple with MLC (Multi-Level Cell) flash chips which are 30-40% cheaper than the SLC (Single-Level Cell) you guys use. With MLC, we can store two data units one cell, so productions costs are lower and productivity is higher. By the way, we started mass producing these in June.
Eventually, anyone who asks for MLC will get it, so for now, relax. [via]
Yours,
HCK
