Briefly: Conflicting video iPod rumors, Music services wrap-up, Configuring Azureus howto, Zen Vision review, Bands against copy-protected CDs
- ThinkSecret says we won’t see video iPods next (Apple doesn’t want to canibalize Nano’s sales; instead, we’ll (just) get new Power Macs and Powerbooks; this is in contrast to AppleInsider’s report; next week one of these rumor sites is going to feel pretty vindicated, and if we’re to believe BBC 6’s report, this’ll be AppleInsider… though the sensible man in me says that ThinkSecret is right—madness!)
- Music Download Services Compared (nothing breathtaking but a good wrap-up is needed every now and then: iTMS, Napster, Rhapsody, MSN Music, Yahoo! Music Unlimited, Walmart Music Downloads, Virgin Digital, MusicMatch, eMusic all profiled here) [via]
- Howto: Configure Azureus (Azureus is a popular cross-platform BitTorrent client; good stuff—now if only someone posted a similar guide about setting up ABC...)
- CNet reviews the Zen Vision (rating: 8.3/10; apart from limited viewing agle, inability to record videos, need to transcode Tivo To Go before being reproducable by the device, they seem to really like it; there’s also DesignTechnica’s review which we covered earlier) [via]
- Bands in fury at copy-protected CDs (did they just know realize that the copy-protection technology used on SonyBMG and EMI’s CDs doesn’t allow ripping to the hard drive for use in portable audio devices, and doesn’t work on Macs?)
