Release: Packard Bell Vibe 500
Packard Bell released the Vibe 500 [via], a visually pleasing MP3 player which comes in 20/30GB capacities. There’s support for WMA protected files, but after reading the specs something tells us that Windows Media DRM 10 support is missing—so your tracks from subscription services probably won’t play.
When it comes to video support, you’ll be able to watch your .mov and .avi files just fine on the device’s 1.8-inch LCD color screen. There’s also USB On The Go (OTG) support, so you can so you can directly backup those pictures from your digital camera.
The device uses a custom-designed LightTouch scrolling interface, courtesy of Synaptics—ou can see a picture of it in Synaptics’ press release:
The custom-designed LightTouch solution combines scrolling functionality with media controls for Menu, play/pause, fast forward and rewind. The media controls are illuminated with white LEDs, creating an elegant visual effect.
Currently available in Europe. Froogle doesn’t come up with a price yet.
