Snocap now in deal with all major labels

After it reached a deal with Warner Music Group on Sunday, Snocap now has an agreement with all four major labels (Universal, SonyBMG and EMI are the other three). That is in addition to the deals with indepedent labels, which means we’ve got quite a library in the making here.

To recap how Snocap’s supposed to work: it’s a P2P platform (tracks go from user to user) for DRM’ed tracks. Shawn Fanning, Napster creator, has developped an identification technology that doesn’t allow unauthorized tracks to be traded. The platform provides a copyright management system that allows the artists/labels to specify each track’s distribution details on a global basis.

One thing that’s still unclear—will Snocap follow the pricing model of subscription or a la carte services? i.e. Will you be paying a flat fee to Snocap and get as many tracks from other peers as you can? Or you’ll be paying for each track separately, the moment you’re receiving it from another peer?
