Zen Vision:M vs iPod video in the screen department: we’ve got a winner
Woah! Check out the screen comparison between Creative’s Zen Vision:M and Apple’s iPod video: evidence #1, evidence #2 [via]. Creative’s got a winner in the screen department, no doubt about that. Also, its TV output looks much better too. Good news for the competition.
Check out the rest of the photos to get a better feel of the Zen Vision:M’s GUI, or you can read our presentation of the device.
By the way, it’s now available for pre-order from Amazon.com, for $330:
*UPDATE #1*: Here’s some more photos of the device (plus a review in French, but I’ve got a feeling most of you don’t master the fascinating language).
*UPDATE #2*: ...And some more here [via], plus a review in Japanese.
*UPDATE #3*: A review, with pictures, from Everything USB (in English!).

This thing sounds great but should I trade in my 5g ipod for one. And would I be able to copy everything from my ipod to this.

Andre, whether you should trade your iPod for one is a matter of personal opinion; FWIW, I’d say “yes”.
Better screen, much better video support, better battery life and not that bad of a UI (compared to the iPod’s) when you want to navigate through your music collection—why not?
As for the copying question: the ZVM cannot reproduce your AAC files, Apple Lossless files, and those music tracks that you’ve purchased from the iTunes Music Store. So, this will only work for your MP3s; move them to your PC (if you don’t have a copy of them there already), transfer them to the ZVM, and you’re set.

I owned a Zen microphoto before the ipod and it had a problem with the recovery mode. Does the ZVM have this problem or anything esle I should know about.

Not that I know of.
“Anything else I should know about” is a pretty vague statement, I’m afraid.

Hey, i’m looking episodes of “lost” for my, soon to be, ZVM but they are in unsupported formats does the software in box able to convert it. I don’t want to download it with dial-up then have them not work. lmao, it takes me 2+ hours to download a 7min “red vs. blue” episode. I should get my ZVM in a week mabey 2 and thought i would get a head start. Thanks for the help.
...added by Brendan /// July 26th, 2006 at 22:03 PM
Which format are the episodes in? The ZVM should play DivX files just fine.
...added by Konstantinos Christidis /// July 26th, 2006 at 22:50 PM
They were in some wierd format. i found ones in the divx format though. Thanks.

Sir: I have read up on the ZEN m long before I purchased. #1- The Zen you can change battery’s, the Ipod you can not. #2- The ZEN’s video return, picture quality is above any I have seen, used, and looked at. #3- Zen will play anything, and so very easy to work. Running it to a TV, the picture quality, clairity is outstanding, and we have a 32” LCD HD. television. My point being, ZEN M by CREATIVE can not be beat or even compaired to that’s on the market at the same price range, including the new ZUNE.

If your having any problem with your Zen whatsoever, download the new format from Creative. I have had mine since they came out, not a single problem yet, and yes, it does play divx.
