CES 2006: LG to enter US market with three devices
LG Electronics announced they’ll be entering the US portable media market in April with three products.
- The PM70 (pictured ”>here, skip to the bottom of the post) is a 30GB PVR that can record MPEG-4 video directly from a composite video input. It’s got a 4.3-inch widescreen, sports a video-out so it can connected to TV set, runs on Microsoft’s Portable Media Center (version 2) operating system and will go for a hefty $550.
- The JM53 (pictured on the left) is an 8GB HD-based player that supports MP3/WMA/OGG, does MPEG-4 video and has a battery life of 30 hours (for audio). Dimensions: 3.9×1.9×0.55. The screen’s an 1.77-inch OLED. Price: $300.
- The FM30 (pictured on the right) is a 1GB flash-based player, same spec-wise as the JM53, with a battery that’s supposed to last for a whooping 60 hours (again, for audio). Dimensions: 2.4×1.6×0.55 inches, screen size the same as the JM53—price: $200.
