iTunes 6.0.2 is out; MiniStore feature justifiably raises privacy issues
iTunes 6.0.2 is out: features easy video conversion to the H.264 format that the iPod video supports and allows wireless audio streaming to multiple AirPort Express receivers at once.
Also: sports an annoying “MiniStore”—for which privacy concerns have been fairly raised, since Apple didn’t bother at first to clarify what exactly it does a propos to collecting users’ data—which consists of an horizontal bar at the bottom of the iTunes window, that’s visible when browsing your iTunes Library and recommends tracks to purchase from the iTMS based on the tracks you’re listening to. Fortunately, it can be easily disabled (“Edit” → “Hide MiniStore”), and as Apple officials later clarified, when disabled no track listening data is being sent to Apple.
