iRiver to quit the European market?
All signs are leading to this, at least. According to Stuff Magazine, they’ve sacked the European PR team and moved the European marketing headquarters from Germany to an in-house department to Korea. Sales in the European continent are slim (were they ever rosy?), and this seems to be another victim of the iPod storm.
Basically the only place they still seem to hold a strong marketshare is in their homeland, South Korea. According to some figures that saw the light of the day 5 months ago, Reigncom/iRiver was first with 30.8% marketshare (compared to Apple’s measly 1.8%).
