Bits and pieces from the last couple of weeks: Grado GS1000, NW-A1200 in the US, New Nanos in August, Zen V pictorial, SanDisk campaign

  • Grado Labs has started shipping the GS1000: The new flagship of their headphone line, introduced at the International Head-Fi Convention in New York, where it gathered some rave reviews. Bass, mids, highs; it seems it does all equally well and the new cushion design is supposed to be very comfortable. Is this ideal pair of cans? I’ll scour the Web for some decent reviews and see what the answer is. [via]
  • Sony NW-A1200 now available in the US: SonyStyle sells the 8GB version for $200—comes in pink or violet colors. Good luck trying to work your way into loading the device with music suing the included SonicStage 4.0 CP software. You may want to read our review of the NW-A3000 and A1000.
  • A rumor that makes sense: new Nanos in August: ThinkSecret says we’ll be seeing new iPod nanos at the Apple Wordwide Developers Conference in August. Similar form factor, bumped-up capacity (to 6 or 8 gigs), multiple colors and a metal alloy enclosure (I can hear a heavy sigh of relief from Apple’s legal department right. about. now.). We try to stay away from iPod-related rumors as much as possible, but this one actually makes sense.
  • Pictures: Creative Zen V: and some white, wafer-thin device from a random american company thrown in there for comparison. [via]
  • SanDisk’s ‘’Lil’ Monsta’’ campaign: it’s for their best-seller E200 series. Rather odd, but I liked it and I agree with Enzo—no matter what you think of it, it’s good to see a company entering the MP3 player market arena with such zeal.

Also, we’re working on a post gathering all the details that have emerged regarding Microsoft’s Zune/xPod.
